very shallow. I don't want to be offensive in saying that, but that was my personal impression. It's obvious to me that those guys love God, and that gets communicated very well through their music without a sermon. I ended up leaving early to go catch a bit of Johnny Q. Public's set.
I caught the last few songs of Johnny Q. Public, and was very unimpressed. The last song they dragged out for literally ten minutes. The actual song was probably about five minutes long, but they dragged it out another five by just doing a bunch of silly, idiotic junk while playing the same chord for the whole time. It was kind of like listening to Chatterbox's version of "You Are My Sunshine," only not as interesting. Chatterbox's song at least has four chord changes in the progression. Anyway, after that song, the crowd screamed for an encore. I'll give Johnny Q. Public the fact that they're excellent showmen. They play off of the crowd very well. That's a very strong point. But they really need to grow in the songwriting department. They're only kids, so that should come with time. Anyway, they came back on and did their version of Larry Norman's "Reader's Digest."  To be brutally honest, if I were Larry Norman, I would have been very insulted. They ruined his song. I've heard some really good remakes of songs, but this was just horrible. I'm sorry guys, but it's the truth.
At 6:00 p.m. I went to the Underground Stage (the real indoor stage) to witness Unashamed shredding through their songs. I really enjoyed the show. They seem to even have improved. What more can I say about such a cool show? I can't say anything about how they appeared on the stage because I couldn't see a darn thing. The stage is rather low, and being the shrimpy kind of guy I am, I couldn't see over people's heads. After Unashamed ended their set, Strongarm took the stage. I liked Strongarm's cd even better than Unashamed's, so I was looking forward to this show. But wouldn't you know it? After doing a fabulous job of giving Unashamed good sound, whoever was running sound apparently lost his mind, because I couldn't make out anything when Strongarm played. The sound was horrible. I couldn't see either, so it was ruined for me. I was kind of ticked off. I left the show early.
Sometime during the day Friday, Kevin and Stacey from My Little Dog China had shown up and we found out that they were supposed to do an acoustic set at the Heaven's Metal tent the next day. More about that later. It's an interesting story.
Finally it was time for the event of Cornerstone '95--the reunion show of The Crucified. I would have come to Cornerstone even if this was the only show I wanted to see. It had gotten cold when it got dark, so I had gone back to the motel to change into warmer clothes and get my jacket. I didn't know that it was a mistake until later. I got to the tent for the show only to find that there was absolutely no way I was going to get a good view of the show. I had not had any intention of getting into the mosh pit up until then, but standing outside that tent trying to see, I just kept thinking, "I must mosh. I must get into the pit."  So I tried to work my way through. It took me a few songs, but finally the mosh pit was in sight and I was about five people away from it. At that point in the crowd, it was like a massive bumper car ride. It was like the whole crowd was a massive mosh pit. It wasn't, but the movement not only allowed me to get over to the mosh pit, but

actually kind of forced me over there. So here I was in the middle of a sweaty, smelly crowd with sweats and a jacket. I worked my way into the mosh pit and started circling. At first it was kind of a lame pit, but it kept getting better. More people joined the mosh pit and it became really congested like I remember those old Cornerstone mosh pits being. It ruled!! A word of advice. If you haven't moshed in about two years--DON'T!! I was in such pain later on, but it was worth it. I was so freakin' hot with that jacket on, but it was worth it. From where I was I could actually see The Crucified playing also. It was an incredible show. The sound wasn't very good, but the performance was great. I watched the band in between moshing and resting. By the end of that show I was exhausted, exhilarated, and just plain thrilled. I slept like a baby that night.

SATURDAY, JULY 1
THE WEIRDEST DAY.

Okay, I only caught a couple of shows on Saturday, but it was probably the most interesting day for me. The only shows I was going to see were Sometime Sunday, The Blamed, and Adam Again. My, my, the day ended up different.
Like I mentioned before, Kevin and Stacey from My Little Dog China were supposed to be playing an acoustic show at the Heaven's Metal tent sometime that day. So when Mike Almada and I got to the festival that day from our motel, we went over to the Heaven's Metal tent to find out when MLDC was supposed to play there, only to find out that they had cancelled. That seemed really strange. So we went about our business and as I was walking around I saw Kevin Clay. I went over to greet him and he told me that they were going to play at the 7-Ball Magazine tent at 7:15. So I told him I'd go spread the news. Anyway, with that information I felt comfortable going to see Sometime Sunday at the Heaven's Metal Magazine tent at 6:00.
Sometime Sunday was a real trip. The guitar player cut off all his hair and it was really short, so he looked really different. They also have added a second guitar player, so their sound is thicker now. When they played here in Kansas City I was really impressed at just how tight Sometime Sunday was. Well, they didn't disappoint me at this show either.   They are so tight, even with a member who hasn't been with them very long. I think my favorite part of Sometime Sunday is Kevin's guitar playing. He plays with such feeling. I just love it. They aren't the greatest in the stage presence department, but they're getting better. Mikee is playing off the audience a little more. Overall, not a bad show. After the show I went to the 7-Ball tent only to find that the band that was supposed to play before My Little Dog China was just starting. I started to head over to the Underground stage to see The Blamed, but I ended up talking to a few people and so I missed it. No big deal--I've seen them live before. Anyway, I went back to 7-Ball again and asked Kevin Clay when he thought they might be starting. He told me it wouldn't be until after 9:30 now, so if I had something better to do at the moment, I might as well go do it while I had the time. After that, I kind of overheard
