Okay Kiddies, Scott Albert/Celldweller/Klay Scott--or whatever he's calling himself this week--is back with a new and final Circle of Dust album.  More of the same, you ask?  Well, yes and no.

This is an altogether very different album for Circle of Dust.  It moves more into the mainstream of the techno/industrial genre.  I've got to admit that on first listen, I thought Nine Inch Nails, but that's not an entirely fair comparison.  I've always found Trent Reznor's production to sound too trebly and all-around pretty crappy, while Scott Albert/Klay Scott has always put out a pretty decent production.  This album is no exception.  There's a full range of treble, mid, and bass, mixed well.  The production is effective.

Musically, Disengage is much more electronica than past Circle of Dust albums, while not forsaking the hard-edged sound.  The sound is still very much Circle of Dust--solid songwriting, very rhythmic as well as melodic.  But this album is dancier (for lack of a better word) and less metal than the past.  I suspect this is what Scott has been trying for all this time.

This is also a much darker album, seemingly very negative lyrically.  He will surely be criticized and crucified by our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Sadly, I'm sure that's what the negativity has grown out of.

Highlights include "Waste of Time,"  "Refractor" (several versions), "Chasm" (several versions), and "Mesmerized."

Included on this cd(at least the version I got) is also "RefractorChasm,"  an EP that had been planned as a seperate release.  They put it on this cd when that release was cancelled.

Any and all Circle of Dust fans should have this in their collection.  And also watch out for Klay Scott's next project, to be called Celldweller.
