This is a good album of what some call "rapcore." Project 86 is a little more on the hardcore side and less on the rap side than P.O.D. or E.D.L. This is what hardcore should have been all along.
"Spill Me" starts out the album in true hardcore fashion--passion, guts, and aggression. This reminds me of the first Strongarm stuff I heard. "Rebuttal" declares "You've got a lot of nothing to say, you've got a lot of hate to spray. You've got a lot of nothing to say, yet your life is the meaning of temporary." The song "Pipe Dream" is a little faster-paced and still groovy. There's a part in the middle that would make for a great slow mosh pit at a show. "Stalemate" talks about the tempations and cares of life--how our faith is a force against them. "Stalemate--you can't move against me. . .the walls built around me." This is another great slow rap hardcore song. The beginning riff of "Run" reminds me a little bit much of a certain Korn riff. The rest of the song is reminiscent of a mix of Korn and Rage Against The Machine. It's interesting, and I like it. "Independence?" speaks of the danger of declaring freedom and using it to indulge the flesh--at least as far as I can tell.
Not a whole lot needs to be said of the rest of the album. This is a good hardcore/rapcore album, and it's the album that got me interested in hardcore again.
